In the midst of all the wars, famines and tragedies in the world; Harry Potter fans everywhere are being blessed with something magical. Universal Studios is opening a theme park in the spring of 2010 that will allow the spectacular world J.K. Rowling created to come to life.
“It’s amazing,” said junior John Leopard. “It’s what the world needs.”
The park will be set in Orlando, Florida, on 20 acres of fun, along with Universal Studios’ other islands of adventure.
The park will feature Hogwarts, one of the most famous fictional schools in the world; Hogsmeade, the adorable village that Hogwarts students visit for its fun stores; various Diagon Alley shops, such as Ollivander’s; and even a Forbidden Forest, where Harry and his friends get into their most memorable mischief.
“I’m looking forward to seeing all the different places from the book become more tangible,” said junior Abby Incze.
“You’ll feel like you’re really in the wizarding world,” added junior Diane Foster.
Hogwarts will be a stunning 150 feet high castle, complete with the gothic towers for which it is famous. In Hogwarts, visitors will be able to enter the Great Hall and Dumbledore’s office.
Hogsmeade will be decked out in fake snow to perfect its cozy and friendly vibe. Visitors can frequent the Three Broomsticks, for butterbeer loving folk, or the Hog’s Head, for a darker crowd.
And, of course, there will be awesome roller coaster rides. “Flight of the Hippogriff” is a family ride that features a giant golden hippogriff straight off the pages of “Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them.”
Also, the “Dragon Challenge” is a ride that will be remniscent of the Triwizard Tournament, round one. It’s doubtful that any ride utilizing dragons will be dull.
The possibilities for the park are endless, and fans are already imagining all the different wonders the park could bring.
“I hope they have a giant Hagrid walking around,” said Incze. “And Quidditch!”
“I would like to see Fluffy, the three headed dog,” said Foster. “And it would be cool if they had wizarding duels.”
With a magnificent 150 feet high castle, butterbeer, over the top rollercoaster rides, and the general atmosphere that will be made, it’s likely that the park will be one of Universal Studios’ most celebrated creations.
“It’s my lifelong dream come true,” said Incze.
