Glee is not only a feeling and a club, but “Glee” is also a TV show phenomenon. Even though the FOX TV show has not even finished airing its first season, “Glee” fever is taking over audiences and critics already. The show has already won numerous awards and had guest appearances by superstars such as Kristin Chenowith, Victor Garber, Eve and Josh Groban. With all this early success, what is left for the musical behemoth to conquer?

“Glee” probes the world of a high school glee club, through various song and dance numbers set to popular hits. The series follows an optimistic teacher, Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), who against all odds and a malicious cheerleading coach (Jane Lynch) attempts to save McKinley High’s Glee Club from obscurity, while helping a group of underdogs realize their true potential.

“It’s hilarious,” said senior Elizabeth Owen, “every character is unique in their own way and you become attached to them all through all the comedy, music, and sex scandals!”

Already, “Glee” has been embraced by critics, and championed heavily when or if it does not get big numbers in the ratings.  For one thing, they pulled a major upset at the Golden Globes and won for Best Comedy Series.

“People love ‘Glee’, because it’s so much different than anything else on TV these days,” said Owen, “and for another thing, the entire cast is actually super talented.”

With people seemingly not being able to get enough of the musical spectacular, ‘Glee’s’ second season may be extended to 25 episodes, deviating from the original 22 planned.

“I definitely think they should but I don’t know how they are going to do it. The kids have to graduate eventually, and it would also be good to relate it to the real life struggle of music programs too.” said orchestra teacher Amanda Turner.

If you haven’t already heard, the final nine episodes of season one will be highlighted by a highly anticipated Madonna tribute, featuring 10 of her most popular songs. As for the rest of the season, fans can expect Lady Gaga and Aerosmith covers, as well as more superstar guest appearances by actors Neil Patrick Harris, Olivia Newton-John, and Molly Shannon. Josh Groban will also be returning as the hilarious version of himself seen last fall, but the list does not end their.Broadway stars Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff are scheduled to appear, as well as Kristin Chenoweth who will be reprising her role as senior Glee club member April Rhodes.

The “Glee” phenomenon hasn’t been limited to the celebrity appearances and the shows’ success in the ratings. From ‘Cabaret’ to Kanye, songs of ‘Glee’ have been a hit. “Glee: The Music, Volume 1″ and “Glee: The Music, Volume 2″, compilations of the all the show’s covers have sold over 1.2 million copies.

“That’s one of the things that makes ‘Glee’ so awesome, said sophomore Jazlyn Briggs, “it lets people hear so many types of music and artists.”

No one, critic nor fan can truthfully say where this musical spectacular goes next, but wherever it is, followers can be sure it will be big and full of glee.
