Men’s Golf

The men’s golf team had run into a few roadblocks this season and next year they are hoping for a bigger turnout.

This season, the team started off with five players: seniors Michael Irving and Johnny Jones, juniors Daniel Popejoy, and Bob Hutton, and sophmore Mitch Robinette. But in the end, the only two stood standing were Jones and Robinette. With only two players, head coach Craig Barone says it has been a tough season.

“We are currently 0-5 on the season, and with two players on the team, it is hard to win a match against anyone,” says Barone.

With all the hard work on Robinette’s shoulders, Robinette just goes out there on the golf course and does what he does best, have fun. Robinette qualified for regionals last year as a freshman, and is looking for accomplishments to add to his collection. Robinette has already convinced his peers he has a chance to be great.

“Mitch is really good. Just standing out there watching him I’m in awe, his play is amazing” says Jones. “He is the main reason why I decided to join the golf team. I can see him playing in the PGA someday”

Despite having so few have players, to win a match Robinette continues to have fun on the course.

“I feel I have to represent my school and my team when I’m out there no matter, if we’re winning or losing. Coach Barone’s advice to me is just to focus on my game,” says Robinette.

In the conference tournament Robinette finished the season two shots out qualifying for playoffs
